From the Log Cabin Democrat (Conway, Arkansas)

A Little Rock man has filed a federal lawsuit against the Conway Police Department after he was arrested on Jan. 7 for having a four-ounce bottle of pepper spray in his car.

Jonathan Bevans, 35, was making his way east on Dave Ward Drive at about 6:30 p.m. when he was stopped by patrolman Jason Cameron of CPD. Cameron noticed the pepper spray in a door pocket of Bevans' vehicle and noted that it was labelled "law enforcement formula," according to a police report.

"I made contact with my supervisor, who stated (that) more than 150cc (cubic centimeters) of pepper spray is a violation," Cameron's report reads.

Cameron arrested Bevans on suspicion of carrying or possession an illegal quantity of tear gas. It wasn't until Bevans had already been booked into the Faulkner County Detention Facility that Cameron came to realize that four ounces is about 118cc "after a review of the evidence with supervisors," the report reads.
