I saw a nasty car accident on the way home from work yesterday.
I was in the left lane, just about to enter the lefthand turning lane. The light turns yellow and a car in left hits his brakes and loses control and veers right into the cars lined up in the turn lane. Stuff exploded off the first car hit,and the first car slides across the street to the right hand lane.

I call 911 and give our location. Cars not in the accident all take off,and I am alone with the 3 cars involved. The operator asks if anyone is hurt, the guy in the first car is slumped over I tell her,and two guys from the other cars are wandering around. Tell them to sit down. I walk up to the guy in the SUV and tell him this,he says "My wife is hurt." Ambulances are on the way I say.

The guy from the badly rear end car is over by the other car with the injured driver. I tell him to go sit in his car. The operator tells me to point out the unconcious guy to the ambulance. His eyes are opened but he doesn't hear me tell him help is coming,he is out of it.

Ambulances, cops and firetrucks get there. The firefighters start tearing the car apart to get the guy out. A police officer takes my statement and walks me to my car. It's -30C and I am frozen.

2. The police haven't contacted me and there was nothing on the supper news.
I assume the guy is ok.

3. Gee, that was nice of the "cars not involved in the accident"
Yeah, just take off, though your witness statement might be of some use to the cops or those involved in the accident. I never understood that about people who do that and I've seen it before too. Kudos to you though.

4. What those "cars not involved in the accident" did when they drove off
is against the law, at least here in NC. I'm not sure about anywhere else, but you are right.

5. Sounds like you did a very good job. Congratulations
As someone that has responded to more MVAs, than I care to remember, I think your actions were near perfect.

6. Thanks. I felt like crying when I got home.
Funny thing is,it seemed like the whole incident took hours, but I wasn't 30 minutes late getting home.
