I've got a squatter.
Yep. With all the dogs and all the craziness here, an orange tabby has become a resident. I've seen him come and go, raiding the catfood bowl every day. Tonight, I realized that he's moved in. In our carport, there's a shelf that I had put a dog bed up on. The dogs had taken to trying to tear it apart, so I took it away from them and put it up on this shelf. I went out to put some recycles out, and there he is, up on that shelf, nestled into that bed.

He's doesn't seem to care for people, thought he's stopped running away from me. He's got a perfect little warm spot.

Welcome, new kitty!

4. Yay!
It's so funny...at my parents' house, a few ferals got the basement window open, and so the crew of 5-6 sleeps in there in the winter. So I go out there around 8 am to do the outdoor feeding, and within 2 minutes, there's a little procession of cats in their path through the snow straight to the garage for teh food.

:D

5. Did you see XemaSab's recent post on Oak trees and their
insect-friendly extrusions? Certain types of insect, actually rather quite a few types, sting the bark and it extrudes "boils" in which the insects may thrive.

Trees are ecosystems. They happily support many other types of life, and are one of my favorite things ever. You appear to be rather tree-like, yourself.

8. I realized that as I was typing it...not the finest start to a metaphor..insects stinging and such..
My heart is in the right place, but that place is rather clunky

Not to worry, we do too. One cat, two dogs, and a parrot. Go figure who we weren't adopted by.

19. And it may be too late to tell you this, but orange kitties are invariably crazy.
Except Piglet, but she's really more pink than orange.

23. We have one, too!
Orange tom. Had an affair with our kitten when she went into heat for the first time at four months old. Stayed around for the meals. Wound up in our bed. I think he has a home somewhere, though--he's only around part time. Makes it hard to try to schedule the vet for him.

26. He's only met the two youngest puppies.
And by met, I mean they have no idea he's there. He just watches them from his perch, full of smugness.
