My old boss today hooked me up with a guy who owns a placement agency and he is scheduling me for two interviews. One for a VB.net programming position (with mssql data base backend) and another one for a unix/network admin position.
I have over 13 years experience in the computer field (From managing data centers to help desk to programming to data base design) but have been hitting a bunch of zeros here since August when I moved back to Ohio. Interviews off and on but usually over qualified (sorry, we hired someone in a more junior position - read, age....I am 43 myself).
My unemployment has been all screwed up - CA finally denied my claim there after months (was supposed to be 7-10 days....) so now Ohio should pick it up on extended (I had a claim here that finished, then one in CA, and now I can get extended on my Ohio one) if I can ever get through to them (can't do it online since it crosses more than one state). They will approve it (talked to them last October and it was ok, but had to use up my CA claim first or be denied there before I could get my Ohio benefits) but god knows how long that will be.
5 months with no income is sucking :) Got someone who is gonna get me some gas in my car this week (I hope) but couldn't make it over due to snow today.
I REALLY need this job before I go insane (well, more insane). It won't fix the other issues in my life, but looking for pennies in the couch to get gas to get to an interview is getting damned old.
Thanks my friends, maybe this year will be a good one on that front. Other issues...well fuck em.
