Poll question: Nature vs. erm....not nature?
I suck at thread titles...anyway...

My best friend Rachel says that I'm abnormal because I detest outdoor activities. (i.e. camping, hiking, scuba, wtfever...) She maintains that is why people overwhelmingly choose to vacation in Nat'l parks, at the beach etc. I say that there are PLENTY of folks like me who are just happy as can be staying in the city, and in fact abhor the idea of spending the night out in the woods somewhere (where Hook-hand is in cahoots with every spider and/or praying mantis in a 10 mile radius to invade your tent as soon as you close your eyes).

So kids, what's it gonna be? :D

1. I prefer the great outdoors
But there are obviously many many people who don't. And I am thankful for it. Many parts of the great outdoors are crowded enough as it is. :-)

5. NO!!
YOU MUST CHOOSE!!! :grr:

:P

Stop being silly, of course you can. It's more of a *preference if someone made you choose or lose a finger* kinda thing. ;)

6. Oh...ok...for vacations, I like to have lots of things to do.
So, I'm more inclined to be a city-slicker.

But every now and then, I feel this need to commune with nature. A few hours usually does the trick, though.

7. Bugs are ICKY!
I like warm fall days -- after the first frost, when all the insects are dead.

11. Other...I prefer pastoral landscapes...
This was a big problem for my marriage. Originally I just wanted a few ex-urban acres...she wanted a farm. We got the farm, I fell for it in a big way. So much so that I didn't want to take long vacations away from it. A weekend, sure. But more than that and the longing to be home started gnawing at me.

12. I've yet to find the charm
Of living the way that human beings did in the stone age. Give me city life any time! :-)

13. There's a reason
I live where I can drive 6 miles and not see another house. A reason I can get just west of Fairbanks and not encounter a red light for the next 278 miles................... A reason I love the speed limit sign at the start of the Haul Road:

Give me outdoors - winter, summer, anytime!
