Stupid email virus! I don't see why people think this is funny. I got an email disguised as being from my email service managers, that contained an attachment with the Bagle virus. The best part was that their gimmick to get me to open the file was that they were going to terminate my account unless I opened this file and completed the information within. The email said that there had been some "improper use" on my account (I figured that my email had been turned into a spamming drone or something), and that I had to go through a process so they could determine whether or not it was truly me "improperly" using my account.

Fortunately, I scanned the file, and it set off all sorts of virus warnings, so of course I didn't download it. I reported the infraction, but I'm still mad.

1. I got the same kind of thing yesterday...

I didn't open it, but I clicked "show full header" and have the address it came from. How can I scan the attachment without risking getting a virus?

Hope you alerted your isp because it's pretty elaborate when he fakes your isp

3. Yeah, I let them know.

That was the first thing I did - I started crafting my email to them even while I was running the scan (because premise seemed a bit fishy... and even if it was true, I didn't want them to think that I was sending spams!). Those virus creators are tricky little bastards...

4. I got 5 of them this morning

Fortunately, I also got a warming from our Tech people, so I knew not to open them.

But I have to admit I didn't suspect my own email provider.

6. I got that email with a zip file attached. I did not open the zip.

I called comcast and they said it was a fraud. They asked me to forward it to them and I did.

Now that I'm paranoid about that stupid virus, I'm scanning my whole computer to make sure it's ok. Of course, this takes up quite a bit of the processor, so everything is slllloooowwwww.
