Back when I was a kid, we had "portable" radios.
Sure, we could only pick up AM stations, (which were hell to listen to during thunderstorms,) and since we didn't want the teacher or parents yelling at us to "Turn that garbage off!" we used that little white earphone that turned brown from repeated applications of earwax.

Then came...THE WALKMAN!
Just clip the cassette player (some had radios on them too,) on to your belt, and you were cool!
Two weeks later, on your 180th set of batteries, you'll be walking leaning on that side, since those things were heavy.

And now...
THE iPOD!
(Or cheaper version)
Now we can load up our entire collection of CD's into this teensy electronic gizmo that destroys our eardrums with not one earwax collecter, but TWO!

1. That's why I buy a cheap non-name-brand mp3 player

and use the extra money on some headphones that I DON'T stick inside my gorram ear canals. :P

2. I have non-shitty earphones for my ipod.

I can't hear for crap, and I can tell the difference. Besides, those ipod ones are round and my ears are not. I got a set that actually fit nicely in my ears.

...the iPod is good for personal hygiene.
