Is it good? Is worth getting? How does it work?

11. Pandora is pretty cool. So is Ben and Jerry's. Maybe if I could somehow combine them...

16. Pandora is ad-supported...
so while not technically free, it has no out-of-pocket cost. The ads are visual and not aural for the most part (you only get sound-ads when you change stations and not between songs.) so you never know they're there unless you're looking at the page.

They limit the number of songs you can skip in one hour. If you don't move the mouse for 20 minutes it auto-pauses because they pay royalties on all the songs.

You can fore-go the ads, the auto-pause and the song-skip limitation by getting a paid subscription for $36/year.

2. There's no 'getting'.
You just steal fire from the gods, they send someone down to be your wife, and she opens a box that holds all the ills of mankind.

8. Nah, it wasn't her fault.
The gods were getting their revenge on Prometheus and mankind in general. They just used her to do it. She's more like a Trojan horse. Only not a horse. And this was before the Trojan war, so the phrase 'Trojan horse' wouldn't have existed yet.

Or something like that.

but what do people remember? The chick opened the box, ate the apple, caused the Trojan war, it is always the woman's fault :grr:

14. I just registered last night....
I am a Yahoo Launchcast junkie and they are being sold to someone else (maybe CBS Radio??) come February 12th and I lose everything. I just learned this fact a couple of weeks ago and am not a happy camper. So I saw something last night on DU about pandora.com and checked it out. The jury is still out- you can only give a thumbs up or down on a song or artist whereas with Launchcast you could rate by numbers 1-100. Huge difference there.... I will hang in there for awhile and see. Maybe someone can make other suggestions for us to check out--- Please and thank you.

15. It's free...you have to register....
what I like most about it is that you enter a song title ( or artist ) and it matches an artist ( or song ) similar to what you were searching for and recommend that song....in other words, you can discover a new band that has the same sound you are used to, and you don't have to be stuck with it if you don't want it! You give it a thumbs up or down, and you can bookmark that particular tune for future listening!..creating your own playlist....I love it so far

17. Yeah, there's no point in 'rating'
as the thumbs up / down system is just for you to fine-tune what you DO and DON't want to hear.

Another thing I love about it is the little summary-stories you can read about all the artists.

Whether it's throwing artists I know or not at me, it's uncanny how well they match the type of music I like with the artists I pick, most of the time.

It's totally fun, no need to pay to enjoy, although if I hada little more money I'd eventually join, myself.
