Girl Power softens Volvo's edges
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3528757.stm

Volvo's new concept car, launched at the Geneva motor show, is a car designed by women for women.

If the Calendar Girls were making cars, this is what they would look like.

Volvo's latest offering seems to be almost more of a break with tradition than the Women's Institute members stripping off for a calendar

Seat pads, attached with magnets, can be removed to be cleaned.

The interior seat pads are replaceable
And the pads are available in different colours and textures to match a woman's outfit, or even the weather.

The car's bonnet is another fun feature.

The whole front of the car is moulded in one piece which can be removed only by a Volvo mechanic

IMHO I do not think I want a hood that only Volvo can open...

3. Actually, the bit about the outfits sounds like marketing
...not design. I can think of practical reasons to have changeable seat pads, but that's not one of them.

"And for women with ponytails, there is even a split in the middle of the headrest.

'It is very uncomfortable to drive with a ponytail,' said Ms Christiansen."

"Volvo will never actually take this car into production, of course."

What!! I think someone's solved my lifelong dilemma about what to do with my pesky ponytail in the car, only to have my hopes dashed!!

edited for punctuation

12. Flip it over your shoulder
That's what I do, and I look sporty.

This is only because Ford needed to punch up the Volvo entry at the show. I don't believe this car will make the production lines. Besides, I can't open this car's hood? That is very not Volvo-like.

11. I'd like to teach the world to drive in perfect harmony.
Volvo wants to find out how to get more money out of each car they sell.SUVs are more profitable than cars so they want to raise the perceived value of cars so people will spend more.Size and intimidation are the SUV's market so they only have styling and technology to work with, they attribute this to women which is a compliment.Stupid features are like stupid pick up lines, courtship is a ruthless business.Upper class women spend alot on designer kitchens they do not actually use,the oven door and cabinets stay closed, those ranges put out tremendous heat and the hood sucks all the air conditioning out of the house. They have multiple vehicles in their garage, one stylish and romantic another a bad ass.

13. They say it's "easy to park"
but I'd like to see someone get those gull-wing doors open after easily parking it in a small space.

Screw girly cars, THIS girl wants THIS car:
