The Plage of Silent Letters: Can't we somhow re-alin our Alfabet?
I left out the silent letters in the words, "plague" and "somehow".

but you coud still red it, rit? wy duz our langweg hav so many silent leters? it's rely hard for anyon trying to lern english, or for thos hoo hav problems with speling.

and, ther ar too many words with suspishus speling, lik "machine"
wy can't we desid betwen "ch" that sounds like "chalk" or "sh", as in "machine"? and do we realy ned 2 "e's" in "need"?
and wy spel numbers wen you can just typ in a number?

i belev we shoud simplify our langwij sav our fingers a lot of gref and pan.

egzamplz: tongue..........tung
headlines....hedlinz
college......kolij

and i rely don't think we ned the conflict betwen "j" and "g".
it's to skitsofrenik. "au" shud be dropt, and simply replast with "O"

and i's so tird of "qu" is it a "k" sound, or a "kw" sound?

and wy the hel do we haf to spel "bo" as "beaux"? it's just crazy.

and finally, what's it gona be, "C", or "K"? "c" is not a "k", nor iz it an "s", we could do without the letr C entirly.

i hop that i've mad my point susinkt enuf for al to abzorb.

1. beaux is a French word
So it's not our problem to solve. How about irregular spelling rules like i before e? You really do have to memorize the spelling, because the mnemonics don't cover all the cases.

...People are never sure whether the first "B" in my name is silent, or the other one. :)

4. I ain't gonna do it.
Spent close to 60 years learning to spell the way it is, and I ain't gonna change.

Tough enough dealing with metric stuff.

5. Wat wil we tel the children
No mor speling b's?

No mor speling tests?

No mor stars on speling workshets?

I say down with MoPaul's spelling reform. It's anti-American and will corrupt our youth.

9. mark twain's plan for improving spelling:
A Plan for the Improvement of English Spelling

For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and Iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all.

Jenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with Iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and Iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants. Bai Iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez "c", "y" and "x" -- bai now jast a memori in the maindz of ould doderez -- to riplais "ch", "sh", and "th" rispektivli.

Fainali, xen, aafte sam 20 iers ov orxogrefkl riform, wi wud hev a lojikl, kohirnt speling in ius xrewawt xe Ingliy-spiking werld.
