Even a genuine Republican--oh, John McCain springs to mind--would be preferable to Bush.

There are very few people who would be as bad, or worse, than Bush. Let's see...Ralph Reed, Ralph Nader, David Duke, Tom DeLay, Catkiller Frist, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell come to mind quickly. Give me a few minutes and I can come up with others. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Reverend Moon are others who would be as bad; thankfully they can't run, at least not yet.

We all know the score on Bush: AWOL, slacker, loves to run to Crawford at the drop of a hat, LIHOP/MIHOP, starts wars to enrich his friends, too dumb to pour piss out of a boot, talked the economy down during the campaign, pushed it down with his tax cuts and can't get it to come back again, hereditary Nazi...could anyone else possibly be that bad?

They have got a great scent, haven't they? :)

The flowers in the picture are Leucojum, near as I can tell. Convallaria (lilies of the valley) have sort of broadish lanceolate leaves, unlike the narrow, strap-shaped ones in the picture. And you see those little green dots around the blossom rims? Those are distinctive of Leucojum, and lilies of the valley haven't got them.

I think snowdrops (Galanthus -- a Leucojum relative) also have white, nodding blossoms with green markings, but the flower shape is different.

They're all great plants, and well worth growing.
