I'm Freaked Out... Found Out My Friend Was Murdered
I found out yesterday that my friend who died in 1994, who it was said that he fell off a cliff overlooking the Illinois River in Oklahoma, was actually murdered and NEVER fell. This according to the state medical examiner of ARKANSAS because the Oklahoma medical examiner concluded "no known cause of death" removed all his bodily fluids and closed the case.

The Sheriff and the Undersheriff of this beautiful but podunk and crooked apparently, county in Oklahoma chose to do nothing about it.

This despite the fact that there was evidence at the scene he was DRAGGED TO where he was found, in the weeds on the shore of the river, that he had GRAVEL in his shorts from being dragged. That there was NO EVIDENCE whatsoever of a FALL from a bluff, and NO BLUFF above him.

So the shock of the REALITY that he was murdered, and it is thought to be known BY WHOM, and there is nothing that will ever be done, is really bothering me today!!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!

4. I don't know him,
but his father was one of my professors. x(

And yes, you're right: that county's law enforcement at the time was known to be less than stellar.

5. yeah, his father has beaten the grass to scare out the snakes
and I feel for both his father and his mother, their only son.

:(

Very corrupt at the time apparently. The "suspect" that my friends there have in mind is also someone who I'm pretty sure I've met.

8. I believe it
when one of its cash crops is illegal, you know that there is going to be an illegal system built up around that. With meth, its even worse I imagine.

7. Does anyone have an idea for the motive? Was it a hate crime?
Drug deal gone bad? Any idea?

We have had some horrendous murders here in the last few months of young men by groups of young kids--not gangs--and the motives seem bizarre.

I am so sorry you are having to relive the loss of your friend again with this terrible news.

10. The theory is
that he stuck his nose where it "didn't belong" trying to help some kids in a church youth group he was working with. Now he wasn't some kind of goody two shoes, he and I partied a lot. But these kids were doing meth, and being sold to buy a guy that used to be just selling pot.

He apparently found out a LOT of stuff. Too much maybe. People who were around him in his last days say he kept talking about how he had found out something that was HUGE.

Then he was found dead, two blocks from the suspected persons (not by any law enforcement) mother's burned house that burned the night before, set fire.

I'm sure I'll never know, just wonder what his last hour or so of life was like.

Not only the murder, but the corruption by the authorities and the original coroner. If you know who the murderer is do his parents know too?

12. Wow, I'm so sorry. Coming from a land where I don't trust our own Sheriff
and County Attorney farther than I could push them with my shoulder I can imagine how much anger and reborn grief this must inspire.

If DU can help with anything, let us know. Geez, I'm so sorry.

I am so very, very sorry.

17. I really feel for you...
What a horrific thing to learn after all these years...to have it actually come out after it was already very suspicious. My best friend was murdered in the 70s by her boyfriend, and to be that close to murder is traumatic.
Typing the word is even difficult...
If it's now coming out, how can they possibly not start another investigation?
I don't know what else to say:hug:

peace~

22. It is complicated
not necessarily just coming out now... ruled murder by another state's medical examiner who has no authority. Should be a Fed investigation of the dept in my opinion, but what do I know?

These are the freakin' hills, and they made moonshine in these hills for years and grew and grow some of the best pot around, and its a cash crop, and I think the meth machine was pretty wild there then. Prolly still is.

We'll see.

24. If you know anything specific...
call the DEA.

They will have an interest if taking on the investigation gives them an opening to lock-down the drug trade in a major supply area, particularly because that drug is meth, and because your friend's murder provides them with the capacity to arrest on charges potentially carrying a life-sentence or capital-conviction.

A case like this, when it takes down a major producer or supplier, makes careers.

26. Would the state police have any jurisdiction in all of this?
If there is something hinky about the local guys would the state police be somebody that could step in and look this over? I'm no lawyer, but you hear "there is no statute of limitations on murder" all the time.

Do you think maybe the state guys could investigate?

I am very sorry to hear about your loss even if this is offered after the fact. Any loss is tough, but something like this just rocks you down to the foundations.

I don't even know what to say to you:hug:  I'm so, so very sorry:) My deepest and sincerest thoughts, prayers, condolences and sympathies to you and your friend's family and friends:hug:

I'm also sorry that the law enforcement at the time seems to have been tainted. That's disgusting and there is no excuse for it.

Don't give up on hope that justice will be done. Stranger things have happened even in the most adverse of circumstances and when you least expect that it will be. Here in Australia there was a model who was pushed off a cliff by her loser boyfriend with powerful connections to the rich and famous and he managed to evade justice for over a decade and moved overseas and thought the law couldn't touch him. Late last year, the creep finally got what was coming to him and was found guilty and sentenced to jail for a long time

Once again my deepest thoughts, prayers, sympathies and condolences once again SPK:hug: I hope all affected by this can find peace:hug:

A good friend of mine was murdered in the Bahamas when TM was 8. I will never get over it. She was such a gentle, wonderful soul.

When we were there a few years back, at the same hotel where she was murdered, (albeit it was under construction when it happened) I didn't let TM or Baby M out of my sight. Mr. had his eyes on Boy M.

My deepest condolences.

49. OMG, No wonder you're freaked out...
Especially after so long... I'd be shocked as well, too. Aren't they going to look into it? That's the least they should do. Jeez. :-(

I guy I used to work with died, nice guy and pretty shocking because I think he was younger than I am. A friend who knew him well was always convinced he was murdered, kept bothering the police. But I recently found out that he died because he did that thing that guys do that can kill them accidentally...:-(

But this sounds like very compelling evidence. I agree, somebody had better get on this and find out the truth! :-(
