DU Technopros, need advice on Ad-Aware
I like the nonintrusive way that Ad-Aware functions. You don't run it until you need it, and then it deletes the spyware on your computer.

But I am concerned that it isn't catching everything. Can someone recommend another free anti-spyware program similar to Ad-Aware that can cohabitate on my PC and catch all the nasties that Ad-Aware misses?

Thanks, you guys!

S&D = "Search and Destroy"

Sorry, I don't have the URL.

7. BTW, which is the best mirror from which to DL?
Of the four listed here, which is the most trustworthy? I got a virus from a tucows mirror once. That's out...which of the remaining three.

5. It's something like 6.181
I just updated it. It caught over 130 buggies that it had not caught before I updated.

I also ran my brother's adaware on his pc a couple of nights ago...we found two "hijacker" programs...Any idea what a highjacker is?

thanks for helping out, Jay.

I ran AA last night on my wifes machine and caught about 200 parasites. I saw that 6.181 was available, downloaded it and caught about 200 more. There oughta be a law. A browser hijack is a program or reg entry that changes your homepage/search settings. Look for crap like new.net and sir search. Both of which were on my wifes machine.

EDITED TO INCLUDE BROWSER HIJACK

9. AdAware and Spybot are the big two, but...
Spyware Blaster is another free one that comes in handy. 'specially if you insist on using IE and it's Active-X components.
