2. Falcons, Chargers, Ravens, Eagles.
Edited on Sat Jan-03-09 03:20 AM by MrSlayer
The Cardinals are the worst playoff team in years, Michael Turner runs over them. The Chargers beat the Colts the last two times they played in the playoffs and are at home. The Colts are red hot though, this is the one pick I'm not super confident in. The Dolphins are a feel good story, coming from 1-15 last year to the playoffs this year. The story ends now against the Ravens suffocating D. The Eagles are 3 plays away from being 12-3-1. Minnesota is one dimensional one on both sides of the ball. Unless Andy Reid turns complete idiot again the Eagles move on to the Meadowlands.

I might be off with the Vikings/Eagles prediction...seems like the Eagles can win or lose on
any given day.

7. Denver actually had the AFC West locked up until they choked
They had a three game lead, blew their last several games and ended up losing the division to San Diego in a head to head match. One of the most epic collapses of NFL history.

17. Falcons, Colts, Ravens, Vikings.
The Cardinals have not won a playoff game in my memory...I can't even remember the last time they played one. That streak won't end today. I predict the Falcons win by 13+. Falcons:23 Cards:10

Despite the records, I think this is the closest game of the four. Expect a high-scoring game between two strong offenses, the team that scores last will win this one. I predict Colts by a field goal, 38-35.

This is an easy pick. A shutdown (Ravens) D against a run-oriented (Miami) O always favors the D. Ravens by 10, though I think it might be 10-0 or 13-3 in a boring between-the-20s game to watch.

The Vikings will win this game going away if they can bottle up the Eagles on the ground forcing mistakes and making them put the ball in the hands of McNabb who has always taken a high-risk/high-reward approach to the passing game. The Eagles will win if they can keep the Vikings from breaking the big run. Slightly-superior run-defense favors the Vikings here in my prediction. Vikings:24 Eagles:17.

Now we see if growing up in the shadow of ESPN in Bristol, CT and serving coffee for the last 3 years to Ron Jaworski, Mark Schlereth, Mike Golic, Sean Salisbury and Chris Berman has rubbed off on me...at all.

21. Tinfoil Hat Time
Roger Goodell wants the highest possible ratings for the Super Bowl.

That means Manning vs. Manning.

Watch the zebras do everything in their power to make sure that the Colts and Giants make it to the Super Bowl.

And for those of you who think this is nuts, go back and watch the abomination that is the Seahawks-Steelers game a few years ago.

>And for those of you who think this is nuts, go back and watch the abomination that is the Seahawks-Steelers game a few years ago.

Do you want to see a grown woman cry?

In the meantime, yeah, you're right -- the NFL wants high ratings, and they'll get it with Manning vs. Manning. The "Super Bowl" the Seahawks played in was nothing more than the coronation of Jerome Bettis and the Steelers. I realize I need to adjust my tinfoil hat, but it's hard for me to believe this was an accident, seeing as how the NFL is becoming more like the NBA re: officiating "errors" daily.

59. For once, I am happy to be wrong!
I still believe that the Colts get favored treatment from the officials 9 times out of 10. Remember, Colts president Bill Poulian heads the "Competition Committee", the league body that oversees officiating.

60. I'm still shocked
I figured the Colts would get some preferential treatment in the last minute or so. I'm now rooting for the Dolphins -- it would be poetic justice to watch Pennington rub Favre and the Jets' faces in it.

In the meantime, does it occur to anyone else but me that the Chargers' coach needs to petition the league to ensure Ed Hochuli is NOT officiating any more of their games in the playoffs? ;-)

Hafta Hope for the Iggles, and I got this sense for the Cards.

The Colts seem almost a lock, and the Dolphins would make for a great story if they can best the Ravens defense.
