It was 2:32 a.m. and Salem wanted to be let out of the bedroom. As I stumbled toward the door to let her out, I put my bare foot right in a puddle of fresh cat puke.

What a way to start the new year. If this is what I'll be doing in 2009, I think I'd like to hibernate until 2010.

She always said that the image you project for the night is how you'll be perceived for the new year, and that's why people dress up. It's kind of a manifestation thing--if you look and act rich on New Year's Eve, you'll be blessed with riches in the new year.

Grandma was a strega from Sicily, so I take what she said seriously.
