Should I get a tattoo?
How should it look?
Where should it go?

Are they expensive?

5. If you have to ask the answer is no
it's the Yoda philosphy - there is no try, either do or do not.

Well when it comes to tattoos - either you do or do not. If you have doubts then you'll probably regret the thing afterwards. The only people I've met who have bitched about their tattoos are people who weren't sure if they wanted one in the first place.

13. Nah...
that's not original. I saw a porn star with that tattoo.

Let's be original and put Elvis-style pompadours on the dolphins, they should also have trails of mac-and-cheese trailing behind them.

21. So we have choices here?
A blank canvass, as it were?

Or is some of the real estate taken?

If this is the first stroke, then I defer....

18. I'd lean towards no if you're askinng the DU lounge :)
But if you come to the point where you really feel you want one and have a firm grasp on what you want it for then most definitely YES. And you'll probably find yourself able to answer your own questions about what and where.

Expense depends on the complexity and size generally but I would say make sure you're ready to pay for quality for I think obvious reasons :)

I didn't get my first one until my late thirties, I had thought about it since I was a teenager but didn't do anything until I truly felt I understood what it would mean to me and I could not be happier. I've since gotten a second and hope to get a couple more.

Seriously, what strikes you as so great that you'd want it on your body until your dying day?

At the risk of offending some, tattoos are for prisoners or morons.

35. Only if you're over 40
so you don't have to worry about living to regret it because you're so damned sure of yourself at your age.

I do not understand tattoos much, and I especially do not understand women wanting them, and of course I don't have any (didn't even pierce my ears til I was 28 years old) so my opinion don't count.

But I dare say if you have to ask . . . . . Hey, get a temporary burn-it-on tat! ; )

And this comes from a person who got hers on impulse one day. Thank goodness it is lovely and my own design. Have some henna done first and see if you like decorating yourself. Go from there.

38. 1. If you have to ask, probably not. 2. Only you can tell what it should
be and how it should look (with some advice from the artist). If you get one, it should be something meaningful to you and one you won't look at when you're 60 and go, "WTF did I do THAT for???" 3. The real estate is up to you; if you get one, it should probably go somewhere that won't wrinkle much as you age. 4. Depends on size and color; they're like anything else, you get what you pay for.
