Wii Fit tells me I'm overweight.
No surprise there. Everyone else in my family is underweight or normal (minus my dad).

I'm set to lose 20 lbs just to get a normal BMI. Think I can do it it two months? Heh.

On the plus side, Wii Fit has loads of cool games that get the heart pumping and works on balance. If I don't feel like I'm actually exercising maybe I'll do it.

Happy Holidays...no more snacks for me. :P

1. BMI is total crap.
I could stop eating and live in the gym for the next 6 months, and I STILL wouldn't be at the ideal weight for my height.

Now, get some exercise, feel and look better, but please don't be a slave to that BMI number.

Wii Fit sounds fun though. I'm in your boat; but I need to lose a bit more than you to look and feel my best.

I'm going to eat a lot better and get back to being active. I'm just SO DAMN LAZY.

I need someone here to kick my ass into gear. :hi:

6. My problem is I buy healthy foods
then go out to eat because I don't like anything I have at home. Too much waste, too much waist, too much Jobycom.

You probably won't be help by living someplace where it's too darned cold to go outside for much of the year!

8. It's not THAT cold here.
It's not Minnesota cold. :D

Plus, in Texas it's too hot to exercise outside for half the year.

My problem is an over-reliance on processed foods (even "good" ones like Amy's) and a general laziness and sloth.

10. You showed us pictures of that white stuff--I think they call it snow.
That's cold!

Plus, when it's hot, you don't have to exercise. You can lose more weight on a drive home in the afternoon than from half an hour of hard power-walking in a more pleasurable climate. :)

11. Yeah, but that's not normal.
Right now it is about 40.

Actually, you burn more calories in the cold than in the heat. Although you lose more in water in the heat. :)

15. I guess the difference is that when you burn all those calories in the cold
you need hot sugar-laden coffee to replenish them, and when you lose all that weight due to water loss in the heat, you need ice-cold Dr. Pepper to replenish it. :)

23. do what I try to do
when you cook, always make extra and eat it as left-overs. Quick meals, home made, not processed.

4. It's a particularly bunk number when you consider that people who LIVE at the gym...
Edited on Mon Dec-29-08 11:17 AM by SteppingRazor
would often be considered overweight according to BMI. For example, my trainer at the gym (when I went to a gym) was a ridiculously well-muscled dude with a Mohawk. According to BMI index, he was overweight, but in actuality he had so much muscle mass that he registered as obese even though he wasn't.

13. BMI is a flawed indicator of fitness.
My life partner is a big guy. He is 6'4". Right now he is right around 260. The lightest he can really ever get is in the 230-235 range, because of his build. This still puts him at a BMI of 28 which is considered overweight.

14. Bought myself a Wii and a Wii Fit for xmas.
It was funny standing next to the display in Best Buy. I felt like I was trapped in a stop-motion trick photography video as I watched the pile of Fit boxes go down-down-down.

Or would tell me to! I want to lose 40 lbs., although I'd take 20. Okay, 10. Okay, 5. Stoopid thyroid. x(

22. At least it's fun
I really don't like exercising. My meds are screwing up my metabolism too. It's hard to believe just a couple years ago I was 50lbs lighter. Of course, I was sick-thin then...

27. Mr. MG mocks Wii Fit
So it's good to hear another opinion. I hate exercising too. I got a yoga DVD and a Bollywood dance DVD...months ago. Haven't even cracked the security strip on either one. Oh the shame.
