I asked Mrs. V. if we could get a Wii. You know what she said?

"No. We don't need it."

I feel like telling her about how winded and sweaty I got playing the sports package with my nephew (y'know, kinda exercise), but I didn't. She's right. We don't need it. Maybe I'll save up for something else, maybe someone will be in need in a couple of months.

 :plans to drag lazy ass to the gym instead:

1. Psst. Check craigslist for used ones
at a better price.

One nice thing about electronics is that they don't wear out or start to look worn.

2. If you think about it, though, how much of what we really have do we "need?"
For example, I have a clock radio alarm that wakes me up in the morning, a shower radio, a little radio set that I keep on my desk, and one in the kitchen, as well as the one on the stereo in the living room. (I'm an NPR junkie.) How many of those radios do I really "need"? Surely not that many.

Do I really "need" a dishwasher? Do I really "need" that electric mattress pad I have? Do I really "need" a DVD player? I bet of all the things in my house, if you looked over what I really "needed" and threw the rest out, there would be almost nothing left, and the same goes for most Americans as well.

So get the Wii! You'll have FUN! (You realize, of course, that I am saying this because I've been wanting a Wii since they came out, but I surely don't "need" one either, and am currently engaged in an elaborate justification to buy it. Hee.)
