For example, I have a clock radio alarm that wakes me up in the morning, a shower radio, a little radio set that I keep on my desk, and one in the kitchen, as well as the one on the stereo in the living room. (I'm an NPR junkie.) How many of those radios do I really "need"? Surely not that many.
Do I really "need" a dishwasher? Do I really "need" that electric mattress pad I have? Do I really "need" a DVD player? I bet of all the things in my house, if you looked over what I really "needed" and threw the rest out, there would be almost nothing left, and the same goes for most Americans as well.
So get the Wii! You'll have FUN! (You realize, of course, that I am saying this because I've been wanting a Wii since they came out, but I surely don't "need" one either, and am currently engaged in an elaborate justification to buy it. Hee.)
