Gentlemen: With what instrument do you shave your face?

I've been using the Gillete Mach 3 for a while, but am trying out the new Schick four-blader. Advice: If your face is not made out of granite, avoid the four-blader. I feel like I am peeling myself to the bone using this thing.

Honestly -- the Sensor Excel (two blades, two conditioning strips) does the job just fine. Anything else, you're getting ripped off.

18. A two blader - gillette atra or some such thing - has a nice metal handle,

got some heft to it. Those multiplying blades are okay for a shave or two, then aren't really better than anything else.

What you want, Will, is to get rid of your canned foam, get a nice mug - coffee mug works fine as long as it's an untapered cylinder, put in a cake of williams or colgate shaving soap, get a nice brush, add hot water & swirl up a nice pile of foam. It's one of those very pleasant morning ritual sort of things, gets you ready for the day.

But when that insturment won't cut it, I use the Mach 3. Started using it when it came out, and I really like it.

I also use Burt's bees shaving soap and a brush to get the lather. For $4, I have soap for A YEAR. Stuff lasts a long time, and it's wonderful! And saves all that waste of creating cans of faom, shipping cans of foam, and throwing away cans of foam.

All burt's bees stuff is wonderful.

That's what I use. I don't use shaving cream anymore, though. My wife bought me some shaving 'product' like the guys on Queer Eye recommend. Works pretty good. Shaving cuts have been reduced and the razor-burn lotion is terrific.

Really. I am. I buy every new razor on the market. It's not that ANY of them have given me a crappy shave. I just say "Oooo, look at that!", and buy it. I probably have about 12 different models in the cabinet right now. Every razor imagineable from every company. So far I've resisted buying the Quattro, but it hasn't been easy.

Here's what's funny about it: I'm not very hairy. In fact, it takes me three days to work up a good 5:00 shadow. I don't even use shaving cream (don't tell the Fab 5) I just get out of the shower and zipzipzip, I'm done.

I'll have to say that the Mach 3 is probably the best of the bunch, though. That, and its disposeable counterpart, the name of which is escaping me.

61. I shave maybe once a year with a cheap Bic Razor my dad gave me...

...nineteen years ago when I graduated from college. I do it whenever my wife tells me she's tired of sleeping with Grizzley Adams.

Before I start shaving I always cut my beard back with the same scissors I've always used to trim my nails and mustache, and first I sterilize everything with some rubbing alcohol I bought a long, long, time ago for 79 cents. I've got half a bottle left.

Someday I'll have to grow up, maybe even wear a tie, but I'm not looking forward to it.

I want an infinite number of blades!

I want blades moving at the speed of light that increase to infinite mass, covering my face in particals, waves and particles acting as waves. This hyper razor will not only keep hair poermanently off my face but increase gravity around my noggin causing time itslef to bend and go so slow that beard growth is inhibited.

I'm on my second Braun ELECTRIC. I used to use a blade, tried all the two-blades and I think a three one time. Got tired of bleeding all over the collars of my white dress shirts for 30 years.

Seriously, Braun is the BEST. I get a better shave than I've ever gotten with a blade, and NO BLOOD. NO RAZOR BURN. NO PAIN!!!

It's a man's shave that leaves you with a baby-smooth face.

Let your beard grow in for a few days. Go into a sauna or steam your face with hot towels. Use a well-cleansed shiny steel industrial spring to catch a few hundred hairs at a time, and gently-but-firmly yank them out.

It's kind of like eating Scotch Bonnet Habañeros without having a bucket of water to drink.

But avoid Schick anything. My experience with Schick products has been uniformly painful. You think my plucking method hurts? Try a multi-blade Schick without getting a load on first!
