Any other renters here having trouble getting the rent in on time?
Edited on Tue Dec-23-08 06:05 PM by brentspeak
For the past six or so months, I've been 3-4 weeks late every single month. My landlords have been getting annoyed, despite the initial "yeah, it's allright, as long as we get the money". First time ever in my life I've been late on the rent. :(

This past year has sucked job-wise for me, so we've had a time of it paying just the rent and the household bills.

Finally all caught up, and I finally have a decent job, so I'm hoping to STAY caught up.

2. I HAVE to have the rent in on time.
I'm dealing with a faceless real estate corp., not a a personal relationship at all. They start charging fees if you're late with the rent, and if you don't pay up by a certain time, you're out. I've seen the sheriff come out and put people's furniture out on the lawn. They don't mess around and don't care about anything but the money. There is no haggling about it, pay or you're gone.

3. We did this past summer, when ThinkBlue's hours got drastically cut the first time
We got help from a dear friend to forestall eviction, and then when we got our student aid, we paid AHEAD in full through January. We won't owe rent again until February 1st, but we're seriously thinking of trying to find another place before then. This one has become a nightmare, frankly. We're just not sure how we're going to accomplish a major move while simultaneously going to school, working, AND dealing our our lack of a car. We'll figure it out, but it's gonna be complicated and drawn-out. Plus, we still have to find someone (probably a salvage yard of some kind) to take THIS mobile home, because there's no way we can afford to pay normal rent/utilities at a new place while keeping up with the lot rent here, too.
