true enough but I thought these crime investigation shows were realistic.
NOT THE LEAST BIT.

Here's a jewel from Miami CSI:

Young alcoholics attend an autopsy to discourage them from drinking and driving
One asks for a job (he just happens to have the right training)
He's hired
Asshole doctor objects to his hiring
flask is stolen off of corpse
new hire is blamed and he leaves
forensics proves that asshole doctor stole the flask
Pathologist catches new hire out in the parking lot, he knew all along asshole doctor took the flask, but that's ok, he doesn't want the job any longer
Next set of alcoholics attend autopsy. Pathologist pulls back sheet, it's asshole doctor dead from drunken driving! :eyes:

Although not a forensics lab, you should hear how me and my fellow scientists/lab rats pick apart CSI on their illustration of how labs work are run..And yet, we all still watch it , well the original CSI anyway!

13. Don't watch the show regularly. Saw a few episodes recently. RIDICULOUS
The twists and turns until they get to the real murderer seem farfetched.

4. Does he ever show any emotion?
Why just yesterday they had a show where the lady he was seeing was murdered by a serial killer.
I think I would be more upset if I lost my shoes.

6. How he takes his shades off shows his emotion...
fast, slow, left or right hand, the little shake of the head...

I heard he went to the Clint Eastwood school of "method twitch" acting, but never got the hang of the twitch. Just got as far as the "blank stare."

I was wondering if anyone in this country has that kind of technology. My neighbor in CT got her house robbed twice, and they took fingerprints and told her it would be six months before they got any results.

One episode of CSI Miami had somebody with a gun called a "vaporizer". Googled it and got a lot of those things that you use when you have a cold. Oh well....

17. Most of that stuff doesn't exist, and...
I've heard a lot of complaining from both DAs and defenders that juries watch these shows and expect the evidence in real trials to be all perfect and packaged like it is on the shows.

21. That's an interesting observation...
I guess too many people get their information from TV shows. I would think it is rare to use DNA even. Nobody I ever heard of has a budget for any of that crazy technology that one sees on CSI. It is like a forensic Star Trek to me. Fun to watch, but just a tad ahead of reality.

It must make it difficult for the lawyers to convince a jury without all that fancy stuff.

And did you ever notice that on TV shows and movies how the computers all make that strange sound?

Great post, by the way...

29. Yeah, I have friends who were disappointed when police didn't dust for fingerprints after
robbery.

On CSI you see police procedures that weren't even used for the OJ trial!

12. Here's the way to watch CSI: Miami
Edited on Tue Dec-23-08 12:30 AM by Patsy Stone
From the second it begins until the second Roger Daltrey screams. That's all you need, you get it all: hot bods, cheesy dialogue and that fabulous David Caruso look and snappy one-liner. By the time it's done, something better is just beginning on another channel.

Trust me.

25. I believe they are, actually.
I was watching an online behind-the-scenes interview with Emily Proctor, and she was talking some about how it is filmed. I believe she used "eye candy" as a description of the show, and she wasn't just talking about the skinny bods on the show. She was talking about the overall look of it.

I actually like the show...but I like all of the CSI shows.

And if anything of a criminal nature ever makes me its victim...I want Captain Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) of CSI: Las Vegas to do the interrogation of the perp... :D

30. I find CSI Miami to be rather 'meh' compared to the other two.
None of them are particularly realistic, but I found myself getting into CSI when they showed reruns at a time when I could see 'em. And what little I've seen of CSI: NY seems to be watchable.
