Anyone else like Iron Maiden?
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 12:40 AM by Common Sense Party
(the metal band, not the torture device)

I listened to them a bit as a youngster, and haven't heard them in a long time. A bit over-the-top in their instrumentality, but they told a lot of compelling stories.

Here's one of their songs, "The Trooper."

Post some of your fave Maiden songs (if you like them, that is).

6. Yeah, I just realized I didn't have them on my iPod, so I got some
of my favorite old tracks. I never got to see them live, so the YouTube clips are a hoot.

3. I enjoy them.
A friend of mine sings for a Maiden tribute band. They've only played I think three shows, but they're fun. There should be a video clip on that page.

5. The audio's pretty crappy on that clip, but your friend sounds good,
what I can hear. I hope they continue their project. They look like they're having a hella good time.

7. Yeah, it's dudes from a few bands.
They just do it fro time to time for fun.

Adam sings for a band called Gale, http://www.myspace.com/caughtinthegale

And the guitarist used to go out with another friend of mine, he plays and sings for a metal band called Weapon http://www.myspace.com/weaponmetal

Not my favourite local bands but they're enjoyable.

8. Yes but I tend to gravitate towards early Maiden.
I could listen to their first three albums from now until Doomsday.

9. I never heard any of the pre-Dickinson stuff.
I loved "Number of the Beast" and "Piece of Mind." I think "Powerslave" was the last album of theirs I ever purchased. I just sort of lost track of them.

10. The first 2 albums are good. They sound more classic rock-ish
compared to Iron Maiden's later albums.

Number of the Beast is a great album and a great song.

11. I'd like to hear them sometime.
Judas Priest's early albums sounded very different from their metal stuff as well. Also quite classic rockish, much more of a late 60s hard rock vibe.
