It has nothing to do with the fact there is snow here, and I've never lived in it before as an adult. Nothing at all.

I've always wanted a Jeep. Really. It's true.

7. If I got one, it would be a second vehicle.

Therefore I wouldn't drive it much. So, maybe that will help justify the lousy MPG.
