Who remembers the "Lady Chablis" from the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"?
Do you think I'm nuts, or do you agree I might have found her in a local church

1. Anybody ? Buhler ? Maybe I AM nuts - but it's a great fun movie see here

and once you see it, you will laugh with me about the discovery of Lady Chablis in the church.
I had to sneak the shot, and then really crop it - but it's so worth it to me.

2. It could be the Lady Chablis. The style is very similar.
I'd need to hear her speak, though. Loved her turn in the movie, especially her scene in the blue sequin dress at the Debutante Ball.

3. Now I feel better. Somebody else sees it too. Wish I could have heard her/his voice
The debutante scene is movie history at it's best.

8. Yes, the fictional Lady lives in Savannah. I live in NC. Her long lost
relative or Doppelgaenger is who I discovered in that church

:)

9. Lady Chablis is a real person
Edited on Fri Dec-12-08 11:21 AM by supernova
who sort of got exaggerated for the book.

And as far as I know, still lives in Savannah. But your pic is a good facimile from what I remember. Quite possible she has family friends here and was visiting?

edit: She played herself in the movie, btw.

12. So fascinating ! Had no idea
I'll check into your link and would love to see the movie again, I have it, so that's what's on for tonight !

If the woman/man in the church was the Lady Chablis, I think a big deal would have been made of it, so I don't think so.
I had to sneak taking her picture but here is one

of what she was applauding: a celebration of the choir's 25th anniversary

Though it has been over 25 years since I have seen her so I can't be sure.
