It is a beautiful day here in L.A., I can see the ocean from my cube if I stand up

My wetsuit is in my van and if my surfboard was with it I would have bailed on some lame excuse an hour ago. From the window facing north I can see the Hollywood sign and downtown as clear as a bell. To the Northwest (my cube is on the tenth floor) I can see both point Dune, and the Anacapa Islands both over 40 miles away

At 69 degrees it is a picture perfect L.A. winter day.

3. Hey!! (OT) that reminds me--I was wondering if you've ever camped at the Channel Islands.

We're thinking about spending a couple of days on Santa Cruz island, and I couldn't remember if you've posted pics from there or not. :hi:

4. Yup-pers, camped at Santa Cruz and East Anacapa.

Santa Cruz is huge with lots of hiking trails. You really should arrange the rental of a kayak from Island Packers to explore the shore (they are the company who will probably be taking you to the island).

Anacapa is stunning with sea caves galore, to small to hike so it is a snorkeling kayaking destination. I am at work so can't take time to post pics, but if you pm me I can e-mail some of Scorpion Bay (Santa Cruz) and some of the Anacapa pictures.

8. I've camped at Santa Cruz, and it's pretty nice

I've wanted to camp at Santa Rosa for a while, so you might wish to look into that. Santa Rosa is a little more off the beaten path.

Right now, $$ is a consideration, and the price for the boat ride to Santa Rosa is WAY high compared to Santa Cruz.

So, Santa Cruz comes first. :7
