Something about other girls going out with a "swell beau" on their arm, but when she goes out, "On my arm is just my elbow."

21. Nuh-uh
I've seen the first ones. They're cool. :)

I meant women who yell "WOO HOO!" at every conceivable opportunity, like when they run a red light in their Miata. They're usually college-age or about 35 and trying to pretend they're still college-age. Typically, they're hairdressers or bartenders.

They frighten me. :scared:

2. the last I knew the real queen of the Gypsies
lived in my old home town here in Southern Illinois. The old Queen is buried here, and there is a large celebration every year at her grave. A bit of Gypsy history just to add to the Lucy video bit.

20. I only know that I grew up with Gypsy children
and the Monarch of the (Smith) family there was called the Queen. The King of their group was not her husband and lived in another part of the country. In fact they told my father that the queen and king were never married but came from different tribes so as to keep the power separate. When she died, there were caravans that came from all over to her funeral and to the ceremony where her daughter was named the new Queen.

According to the one site I found, there are many that claim to be kings and queens but there are none that are truly so. There might also be different tribes of gypsies that have different members named to be their queen and king. The only thing I remember about those claiming to be the queens in SI, they were of olive skin, with black hair and thought to be beautiful. When I met the 2nd queen (that was in my age group) back when we were both young, I thought she was extremely attractive and very sure of herself (queenly). I don't remember anything very negative being said about the group.

http://www.gypsy-romany.com/index.html

How this group came to be in our town, was that they use to travel through there all the time and then one of their young women married a man from the town. Her family, which included that Queen came to live there. They still have a business in the town all these many years later. I do not remember the time before their being there, and I'm 62.

(Dorothy Parker)

Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Roumania.

How you do that?
I'm glad you enjoyed the Gypsy Esma clip...do you know (no you didn't but now you will ha ha) that I first heard that song on an album I bought at a thrift store over twenty years ago? It wasn't until many years later that I found out she's still around and quite famous in some parts of the world...I wish I still had that album. I couldn't find a picture of it but here's another song from the same record with the cover...
