And it's not so much a theory as it is a practice. 'Cause practice makes perfect.

Edited on Tue Dec-02-08 01:46 PM by redqueen
Or is it the same theory, but "P" just doesn't get a mention in the title?

Yes, I am too lazy to look it up. :P

on edit: It turns out I'm more impatient than lazy...I checked, and it's the same theory. :)

17. Electromagnetic theory.
Who can argue with the elegance of Maxwell's equations? Richard Feynman said that 500 years from now Maxwell will be considered the greatest physicist of the second millennium.

I'm also a big fan of Gravitational theory:

I get really irritated when people are perfectly willing to accept these scientific theories but reject evolution on the basis that it's just a "theory". They get downright offended, claiming that electromagnetism and gravity are FACTS, which they aren't. They're just the best working model we have to explain natural phenomena, hence, theories. I just laugh in their faces an ask them if they're members of the Flat Earth Society.

29. That's true, though, not a theory but a fact.
Harry Dean, however, was in Steven Seagal's "Fire Down Below," which would have sucked otherwise, but Harry Dean's presence (as well as cameos by Marty Stuart and Travis Tritt) made it acceptable. Also, Seagal kicked some major redneck ass. And Kris Kristofferson was in it too.

Come to think of it, that was a pretty good movie ...

28. No, laws are different than theories.
Law: a. a statement of a relation or sequence of phenomena invariable under the same conditions.
b. a mathematical rule.

Theory: 1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena
2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
3. Mathematics. a body of principles, theorems, or the like, belonging to one subject: number theory.
4. the branch of a science or art that deals with its principles or methods, as distinguished from its practice
5. a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles.
