And no big bands. If you're from LA and you post Welcome to the Jungle there's gonna be trouble.

Here's Part of Downtown Vancouver (Known as Yaletown, full of people I hate)

And we'll go with a local classic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbquA796WJQ

And a newer one, just cause they rock...

At the "Reunion Tower" there is a revolving restaurant. It is under construction at the moment. It is the big "dandelion"-looking thing in the left part of the picture.

38. CIty had many Portugese. And many Spanish
And English, German, Irish.

Nowadays, we live some three hours away, in a more remote and rural areea. But from time to time I miss the trumpeting of the sea lions.

And the stories circa 2002, of the one adolescent sea lion, who at a scant 1600 lbs, would take to ambling along Bridgeway Avenue in the wee hours of the morning. It is said that he was fond of poking his nose at the displays in the Art Galleries there. I always wondered if the occasional drunk coming out of the No Name Bar wasn't taken back a bit, thinking, "boy, did I ever have one too many tonight."

I went to the Compound to see them...felt like a chaperone. They're regrouping, got rid of the singer, if you can call that singing...growling? He's doing it now, and they just got another guitarist...

Got to love having the kids involved to. And the dance looked fun. :)

It's funny that you talk about the singer. That type of vocals is one the ones I have a hard time with, though I like the music part. But if you heard the music I listen to you'd laugh tour ass off because the vocals are ten times more weird, deranged, and/or hateful. I've been listening to a band called Coffins and the singer sounds like Cookie Monster gargling glass (in Japanese, mind you), and black metal bands usually have this raspy, otherwordly screech from beyond that I could listen to on a perpetual loop. Go figure.

Some day I'll grow up, but at 41 it hasn't happened yet, thankfully.

And band moms rule! :D

about Pleasantville since the cops there give out parking tickets like candy at Halloween. I've never gotten one myself there though. I have in White Plains.

I have actually never been to Jacob Burns. My friend met Michael Moore there in 2004, called me right away, and I arrived about 5 minutes too late to catch him. There's someone I'd like to have a conversation with.

I'm a little bitter about Pleasantville right now though casue I was not invited to my 10 year HS reunion.

I guess high school reunions have a selected list. They could have tracked down my parents and sent something to their address or something. In high school, my friends did not go to my school so I could have easily been forgotten.

Oddly enough, having spied on my HS class on myspace, most of them still live in Pleasantville (or NYC or Florida). I think I'm the only one who now lives in NJ.

Chesterfield Kings? Didn't they used to play at the QE2 in Albany? Damn, I feel old.

78. Tell me about it!
I don't know about Albany, but they used to play Scorgie's here in Rochester when I was too young to go to the shows; I always yearned to be a bit of a "bad girl" who would be able to get away with sneaking in. Close as I could get was hanging out at the House of Guitars, where three of the five band members worked. Greg (lead singer) used to cut us broke high school students some sweet deals when he was on register.

House of Wigs is shown briefly in the Matrix 2 scene where they are tearing around to the freeway onramp. It was one of my favorite things to see on my commute at the time and when I saw it in the theatre I yelped out "House of Wigs!" This is my picture taken before it was closed. A lot of cool things about my city are disappearing.

And now a song by my old band:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CftDsVOc2vs

You wouldn't believe it, but there were well over a few thousand people watching us play at this festival in Colorado but it was so hot, no one wanted to be on the black top. Jesus, listening to this now, I know why I fired the trumpet player. Anyhow, there it is.

As for music, I don't know of any bands from this town, but can I take credit for a neighboring city? If that's the case, I don't need to youtube because it's a name everyone knows.
