2. Damn! I wish I could make it...

...but it's a long drive from Seattle to Napa.

The winery's a beautiful place; I visited it in 2002.

And I'm thrilled about Sofia's win -- it was the first major (non-technical) Oscar for a graduate of my film school ever!

An embarrassing admission: when she won, I jumped up, applauding wildly, and managed to scratch my forehead with a fingernail. It was only a couple of awards later that I actually went to the bathroom and realized that I cut myself pretty bad -- more than a little blood on my head. Did I ever feel stupid...
