There is a story behind this. (Longishness)
I live in Detroit Michigan. Today was a VERY nice day here for the end of November. Upper forties, sunny, tolerably low winds so I decided to take the FABULOUS KHS Alite 100 mountain bike with The excellent Kenda road tires on one last spin before winter decides to well and truly settle in (On Monday supposedly).

I dressed in layers, jeans, a long sleeve shirt with a t-shirt over it with a nice polar fleece over all and a pair of cotton yard gloves. My ears got a little cold once or twice and every time I went over 15 mph or if the wind picked up the air would cut through it all like a knife but overall I was fine as long as I could stay in the sun. It was as nice a day to ride as you could ask from a Michigan November.

I went almost 14 miles which is the most I've managed, due to the cold, for nearly a month.

Around mile 9 I saw a thing. A thing I can't explain.

I was on the way home, traveling north, towards home and away from a shopping plaza that contained a White Castle, a Kroger supermarket, a GNC and a bank when on the other side of the four lane road, traveling south i saw a guy.

He was around 6 ft tall and maybe 300 pounds. He was dismounted pushing a mountain bike on the side of the road and he was wearing, and I'm not making this up, blue surgical scrubs (shirt and pants), a fluffy beige bath robe and white slippers and as far as I could tell nothing else.

The bike looked to be in ok condition (hard to say at that distance but the tires looked fine) and the terrain was flat and level. This area, south of I-94 in the western suburbs, was several miles from the nearest hospital or urgent care clinic and of course it was too cold for this strange get-up even without the added wind chill of riding a bike.

I really wanted to hop across the road and ask this guy what his deal was but I thought the better of it and decided to let sleeping dogs lie. Still I just KNOW that there was some story of note behind this spectacle and I can't even guess what it is so I remain intrigued.

Any theories? I can't come up with a single one.

I really don't have a good guess.

3. I was just about to reply to your snake handeling thread but thought the better of it.
(since I rarely have anything positive to say about religion)

Thanks for looking. :)

6. You can say bad stuff in there
I think my OP in that thread should have been a lively discussion starter. I really don't have too many feelings either way about religion now days. In that thread, I was just reporting what I saw and my reaction to it.

8. 14 miles?
Ay yi yi. You are an ambitious one.

My explanation would be that the husband came home and this guy grabbed whatever he could to get out of the house. Maybe he even went out the back window and the philandering wife threw whatever garments were easy to find out the window. Then he took the kids' bike and headed for his own home.

9. He was taken to the hospital
His clothes were thrown away. They gave him scrubs to wear for the trip home. They let him borrow a bike.

But they gave me a bike and I don't know how to ride it!
It has only two wheels.
