46. It depends on the situation.

Typically, I try to not be seen and then make some non-threatening sound as in the case with the squirrel and this finch. In the case of the mouse I corned it in an old tree but didn't approach too close. After about 10 minutes it relaxed enough for me to take the photo.

104. Great pic! We started feeding the squirrels corn

to keep them out of the bird feeders, now they are eating 2 ears a day, plus whatever the birds spill on the ground.
They are getting pudgy, and so are the birds.

We went with my son. I'm posting this for you because of the gift I gave to him a while ago. His band did a bus trip and it was the first show I was going to miss...So I gave him my father's dog tag, with your Peace Takes Courage tag...he's never taken them off, and it's been over a year.
My father passed away 15 years ago....

50. it's my grandfather

we call him papa ("paw paw".. us southerners ;) )

he and my stepfather have been the father figures for me in my life. my papa is an amazing guy. every time i go to visit him we'll sit in his library(he owns more books than anyone i know) and get to talking about politics, religion, philosophy.. anything. before we realize it hours have passed. he's definitely someone that i look up to and admire.

people kept asking me to repeat things over and over because my accent was apparently entertaining to them :rofl:

i really hate my accent sometimes, and the assumptions people make based off of my accent sucks sometimes too. "southern accent, she must be conservative, republican, fundie, closed minded, stupid...." the list goes on and on!

107. Ava, I have heard Tom Petty talk about how angry he gets

when people react like that to his southern accent (Florida), and I'm sure this is all to common.
I think a lot of it is due to TV - they love to make fun of differences in people, and it is pretty destructive.

You look great in your winter hair and new glasses.

I just got a new pair this summer, and walked around the mall reading stuff way far away till my wife couldn't stand it anymore.

I have new glasses, but I haven't had time to get lenses put in them. I think I may need to get a new eye test - I got one this summer, than got new prescription sun glasses, but they were worse than the glasses I have now. Since I can't tell if it was the prescription or the glasses that was wrong, I need to get a new eye test :/

I'm going to have to bite the bullet, take it out of the box, and get to learning. My best friend is an awesome seamstress! She makes the cutest clothes and costumes. I'm so jealous!

You'll be so glad that you know how to sew. I'm really glad that I learned to crochet when I was little. Yes, I forgot a lot of it and had to relearn, but I'm so glad I did!

100. once you get patterns cut out it's pretty easy

the machine does most of the work for you, lol. i made a few dresses for my little sisters when they were smaller, and i've made pillows, a tote bag, and a teddy bear(which was the hardest to make). i haven't sewn anything in a long time though. my mom is really great at sewing. she can make some of the most beautiful dresses!

i once tried to crochet, and gave up quickly, lol. i don't have the patience for it, and i kept getting tangles and knots!
