Ok, my cat has just picked up the quirkiest quirk, lol
I gave her a large paper shopping bag to rip up or do whatever to her heart's content. She decided that ripping and biting it is pointless when it makes a perfectly capable mat to sit on, lol. I think she likes the crinkle sounds. She walk on it a bit and then plop down and just sit there, lol.

3. they are fun to discover
Try finding shoeboxes that are slightly smaller than you think it can fit into and watch it wedge itself in...

Invest a couple bucks into a catnip mouse for even more fun. :)

11. she's got a catnip mouse and bag
the bag is her favorite, she can't open or rip it, so she lays there licking it.

7. Unless I poke one hole big enough for my cats
to poke their claws and paws out of, to nail me in the eyeball when I look in, mine don't go inside bags much either. Now, if I add that one hole, they'll aim for whatever part of my body gets near that one little peephole.

a laser pointer might be different.

6. Wait until midnight. You'll hear more crinkling than you can shake a stick at.
Cats love the hours between midnight and 5:00 am. They like their noise making toys more then than any other time of day too. That's when my cats want to interact with me the most, amazingly enough. I'm their favorite noise making toy. :P

9. she's pretty good at night
Edited on Sun Nov-23-08 03:18 PM by charlie and algernon
she actually sleeps at night, usually next to my pillow. occasionally she'll get up for a late night snack and i'll hear her crunching her food, but that's it.

Edit: I guess I should add that 7am is her time to be noisy. On the dot, she'll jump on the bed to make sure I'm up to feed her. :P

18. That sounds like Yogi. He howls every morning at 7 am on the dot.
His perfect times are between 3 am and 7 am, but he gets really rambunctious at 7 am. He howls and runs around putting his head under things. He lifts his head like he's in some kind of a hideout and just peeking out, almost like in the pirate movies. I call it his pirate game.

I'll never forget the time he stuck his head under a baseball hat that was hanging on the side of one of our chairs. It was hilarious. I asked him if he was going to start playing baseball.

8. My cat has picked up a strange, wonderful quirk himself
Fred is 15 and senile but otherwise healthy. Though he pretty much stays on the railing of the stairs' landing here at the house 24/7, he has, in the last week or so, figured out how to crap in the toilet. Guess it saves him the hassle of going outside at 20 or so degrees.
John
Hell, if he'd learned to do this ten years ago, I'd have subscribed to Cat Fancy magazine to give him some reading material.

20. He learned it completely by himself
I mean, I'm sure he picked it up watching us -- but like I said, he's 15 and just started using the commode in literally the last week or ten days.
John
Maybe he's evolving. I don't know.

For the first few days, I thought my roommate Polly was dipping into the Puss 'n' Boots.
John
But at least Polly doesn't lick her butt. So there's that.

19. I am so impressed!
I wanna teach my cat that trick. I tried it once a long time ago but I didn't do it right and gave up. Now that he's a catbox kitty . . . . This Winter we're going to go for it again.

Catboxes suck. Cats that don't need catboxes are waaaay cool. He used to fend for himself in the big outdoors without a cat box but then I moved.

The catbox is outside the door, though.

24. Yeah, but I didn't teach him. I don't know how he figured it out.
But I hope my other seven cats are paying close attention. It would save me a bundle on the cat litter.
John
I own this house, which comes complete with a 55x70 yard. Usually the cats just crap out in the bushes -- here or at the neighbors.
