1. Superman II
I saw it in a theater back when I was 13.Throwing cars and buses around in a fight were not

that usual back then.

3. I should say the original 1978 affair, but II gets my vote...
Especially the original Donner cut, which had the villains being more overtly nasty -- though the Lester version that made it to screen was better in some scenes too...

The 1978 one was great.

III was too campy

IV was a cheap remake of II

Note that the number of years between S1 and S2 were 2 years.

It took 3 years before S3 was made.

Took 4 before S4 made it.

(Amusing count...)

The original Superman movies had an aura of innocence and good will to them as well - no cynicism, which is prevalent in today's culture.

and, for empty tokenism only, the 2006 joke, a 70% remake of the 1978 flick, requires the actor to wear a rubber suit, which will start to smell really bad at some point... not to mention the colors are all wrong.

16. I love Hackman, especially how he wanted to nuke Hackensack just because of Miss Tessmacher's mother
who lived there.

My favorite part of the movie was when Lex was listing where he would nuke and with glee he said "Hackensack!!!"

I also like how that was his undoing. Villains typically have a moment where they go too far out of hubris and it is their undoing. Well that was his because Miss Tessmacher decided to save Superman ONLY because he could save her mom.

What is it about Gene Hackman that he plays bastards that you can't help but love (except in the Unforgiven although you could sort of understand that guy up to a point).

Never liked the first one... don't understand why it was so well reviewed and received.
