puerco-girl came back from her friends house around eightish and threw a tantrum when she found that she had to heat up a frozen pizza for dinner. After calming down she popped one of those "it's not delivery" pies in the oven ignoring the plastic wrap covered bowl containing a ground breaking cinnamon bun dough Ali struggled with after coming home from work.

Just as everyone was headed for bed, Ali walked in the kitchen and realized her dough (she had planned to try her hand at cinnamon buns all week) was no where to be found. She asked p-g about the dough, and was told it was still in the oven. Needless to say we had a dome shaped loaf with a neat looking plastic flourish on the top.

Ali started crying, and I mean really crying, and went to bed. I don't often try to "fix" things.. Most of the time, being supportive is the right move, but for some reason I felt this was different. I just put a plastic wrapped bowl of cinnamon bun dough in the now cool oven to rise and I hope that it is at least passable. Like I said, it's in the hands of the cinnamon bun gods now.

3. I did not try to salvage the well baked loaf.

I tried to make dough for the first time since college. Kneading dough is just as hard as I remembered. At least I used the same recipe Ali tried.

I know you used her recipe, but I would expect that, with about half the people that would have gone through the struggle to getting the dough made in the first place, the fact that you, not they themselves, made the second batch will make the gesture seem more offensive than comforting -- sort of like "you failed, so I did it successfully for you."

7. I don't think Ali is wired that way.

I know she is disappointed that "her" cinnamon rolls will not be baked tomorrow morning, but we will be having our coffee with fresh baked cinnamon buns. We will go over the good and bad points of my dough making abilities, and her filling and glaze. Like every thing we try in the kitchen, we will try to do better on the next go-around.

BTW: The dough seems to have rose correctly.

2. The first time I made Thanksgiving dinner for my family and

then boyfriend, I didn't realize there were TWO bags of crap in the turkey so about an hour before we were supposed to eat we noticed this burning plastic smell, I sobbed hysterically, my then boyfriend made the mistake of trying to comfort me (because really, what do you say to that) and we were broken up by Christmas. You handled it like a pro! :applause:
