Why would someone hate a person based on generalizations
When there's so many more reasons to hate them for specifics.

1. What are you trying to say?
Okay, I get it. I hate you, too.

2. That's long been my philosophy, as well. Why punk out and take the easy way to dislike
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 09:31 PM by Redstone
someone because of some characteristic they have, over which they have no control, when you can dislike them for who they, individally, are?

Furthermore, generalizing is lazy. Except regarding rightwingers, racists, and Fundies (who are often all the same - a package deal, as it were); in those cases, generalizing is justified.

3. Because it's easier than ferreting out the specifics...
that being said, having specific reasons makes it much more fun to hate someone

4. You can't hate somebody for specifics until you get to know them. And getting to know
somebody, whom you are going to hate for specifics, is a depressing and pointless exercise. Hating people from the very start just saves time, which you can use to hate other people

6. Lack of creativity and lack of intelligence.
It's the mark of an ignorant (and dishonorable) man that he hates for generalizations.

That's the easy route, as you say.

Hating for specifics - that takes integrity and effort and a higher level of knowledge.
