you have had more than your share of bad luck lately with furry loved ones.
We are just getting over a week of hell with our husky mixed dog we adopted late last year, she was a stray puppy that had been shot in the hip and grazed on the nose left by the roadside to die, it was questionable if she would be able to keep her leg and almost certain she would walk with a limp if the surgery took. After months of limping she now runs like a racer. Two weeks ago she was attacked by coyotes and bitten on her rump, just hurt pride but hopefully taught her a lesson. Then Early last week she left us several puddles of the worst diarrhea I have ever been exposed to. Next day vomiting and more of the diarrhea, serious dehydration and very lethargic, to the vet $$$$. nothing on xrays but much gas in one area, wood or cloth dont show on xrays so it was touch and go, another night of, will she be alive in the morning. In the middle of the night she was much worse, we had to decide if we should take her to the emergency vet for a barium trace possibly followed by surgery if something was found, we made the decision to wait till morning to see if there was any improvement. she survived and is getting better, man what stress it put on us, nightmares, arguments. We have 3 cats and now this dog, I really dont know how parents do it when their children are sick.
We kept telling ourselves that no matter what happened, we had provided a good home and love for her during her time and we could feel good about that.
I hope your Airdale is OK, I know you will do all you can and try not to let it get to you too much, good luck.
