As of today, CD's are officially dead to me.
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 01:33 PM by Symarip
This morning I had a new car stereo put into my car. I had one of those late 90s stock cd AND tape player head units. Both were dying a slow and painful death. The CD player skips so bad I couldn't even use it and I was only using the tape player with a tape to stereo adapter so I could listen to Stern through my external Sirius. Three weeks ago, my tape player started spitting out the adapter and making a buzz that was less than comfortable.

Anyhow, my new head unit has neither a tape or cd player. In the glove box, there's a cord that hooks directly to my ipod and my head unit takes over control. How fucking cool is that. And I have my Sirius hooked up directly in the back.

At first I was a little hesitant because I still have hundreds of CDs at the house. But all of them are ripped to my Ipod and I haven't purchased a new CD in years since I 'find' albums I don't have via Bit Torrent.

So today, I say farewell to the compact disc. Much like my ex wife, I just can't see the two of us hanging around each other for much longer.

5. I'm totally Ipod now
When I bought my car it was cassette only but I had swapped out it for a CD player (that was 7 years ago when I bought the car). However, today I've put the cassette player back in because those FM Radio connectors for Ipods are shit especially if you're like me and live in the city.

6. oh yeah, i had a griffin itrip for awhile and that was total suck, try and find the fm station
with most static--check, and it's supposed to work which it did until the car moved 20 feet and then forget it. I had the connection in my Honda done for about $250 including the parts, it's wiring came up through the arm rest which was handy.

4. Keeping my CDs.
Far, far higher sound quality than most downloadable compressed versions.

(And I rip using 192k or 256k, 44100hz MP3 format)

7. Yeah but when I was CD I had to take all my CDs with me when I traveled
and when you get to 400+ CDs that gets hard. I never know what I want to listen to at any given time.
