Have you ever met a person...
who uses an awful lot of words but does not really say anything.

I was on the phone no less than 5 times today with a dad of one of the Brownie Scouts trying to figure out whether his daughter was going to be meeting the rest of the troop at my daughter's school, or at the person who was hosting the meeting's house. I kept asking directly where M was meeting us, and he never gave me a straight answer.

:eyes: :nuke:

1. no i actually really might have not really but sometimes
whenever you say something to the effect that you wouldnt want to anyway why is that you
would do something like that to be with the same person you were talking about when you
told me the whole story about something that you were talking about

2. Yep. It's awful.

Especially if they get into "story telling" mode.

:scared:

:boring:

:banghead:

Especially when you have to keep interrupting them to ask who the new pronouns are referring to, and why a story that started about an encounter at the coffee shop has taken a ten minute detour to talk about poor quality of Levi's sewing.

5. zOMG, you totally nailed him.
His daughter and my daughter were also on the softball team together...the man will yap your ear off, even when you try to give visible hints that you are not in a talking mood.

6. Yes - there's a person on campus who I have to deal with like that
I can have an hour long meeting, and end up knowing less than when I started. Even simple question are impossible, as in your example.

Oooh, that sounds awful...

I guess I've been lucky...

I cannot remember knowing anyone like that!

I know some folks who like to talk, but they are usually making a point.

17. I may be a bitch, but
I interrupt, ask questions, stop them mid sentence, and only ask questions that can be answered simply, then stop them, and ask questions again.
I used to be in sales, and some people use it as a power thing.
Pretending to be the moran in this situation helps. Just say, Oops, I'm sorry I didn't get that, Where did you say they were going to be?
OK, let me see if I got this right, your going to be where? they're going to be where?
Frustrating as hell. Want to smack em in the back of the head and tell em to make their point!!!!

20. Oh yes. A person that has nothing to say, and takes all day to say it.
I worked with a gal like that several years ago. She drove everyone nuts because she would stop by to "visit", and go on and on and on and on and on, for a half hour, and not take a breath or a break in the conversation.

We actually had a system set up in the office that we would call the poor schmuck she currently had trapped and pretend it was a business call to save them. Nobody wanted to be the one to hurt her feelings, and even the numerous complaints to supervisors and management went un addressed.

One day she approached me again, and being my sometimes snarly and impatient self, I just told her that her incessant rambling on and on was driving me nuts, and to please leave me alone. She was polite about it, and we agreed to remain professional and friendly. No harm done, and she thanked me for being honest about it.

She did cool her jets on that type of behavior, but it was apparently too late. She was dressed down by management and HR about the numerous complaints, and was absolutely devastated. She really had no idea she was viewed as such a pest.

And you know what she said? She said "Lil Missy" was the only one that was honest with me, the rest of them made a fool of me.

Moral of the story: Sometimes brutal honesty is the kinder road to take.
