5. I'm going to call the bank first thing in the morning
I'll be so excited if they honor it! It's so hard for me to believe in my current financial situation but there was a time not that long ago when I got paid weekly and made enough so that I frequently didn't cash my checks as soon as I got them. Actually it's sort of depressing but I'm not going to dwell on that because there's nothing I can do about it.
I think things might be looking up for me financially, especially if I get the reassignment at my second job. Things have been pretty awful for the past 2 years and I'm excited about the possibility of a change in my luck. Hopefully I'll be hearing about the job thing in the next week or so. If they honor this check that will just make it so much easier to move early in the new year. Now I'm very impatient for the bank to open!
a year or two...Personal checks I don't know...is there still money in the account? Might as well try and see!
I have a check from the county I purposely never cashed from about 2004...it was for jury duty and was for ten cents. They reimbursued me for travel and since at the time I lived twelve blocks from the courthouse I walked there...Cost them 39 cents to mail it to me!
4. Do as Heidi wrote -- call the issuing bank before trying to cash it.
In all likelihood they won't honor it but that doesn't mean that you're out the money. The next step would be to contact the employer. The funds may have reverted to the state by now.
13. I had the same thing happen once, only with a MUCH older
check. I was cleaning stuff in a box and found an ex husbands old paycheck from eight years earlier. I contacted him and he remembered losing it, and his company had written him a replacement check.
