911 is indeed a joke in my town.
I still cannot believe it, we were driving home from school like less than an hour ago and we passed over highway 50 and there was a women, she was elderly and wearing a hospital type gown and bare feet standing on the off ramp, it's a really busy off ramp especially at that time of day, there is also an on ramp so where she was standing was a really, really bad place. So i get my phone an dial 911, "We're sorry this service is not available right now" Wtf?, so i try a few more times, same thing then i get my daughters phone thinking my service is shit, same deal, service not available. I finally got through after i pulled over, it took 8 minutes to get a dispatcher. "Where is she standing Ma'am?" and i tell exactly where, the on ramp for 50 east off watt ave, "Where?" so i tell her real slow like and then she kept me on the line for a few minutes and then told me an officer was on the way.

I hope that woman is ok, it was pretty scary and i couldn't really go back to check on her safely.

2. i've listened to that song so may time but when you actually realize it is a joke where you
live it's pretty scary.

The dispatcher asked me of i tried to call in to the chp so i tell her she's on the fucking off ramp maybe you can figure out the jurisdiction on this one lady? I guess if she goes off the overpass then it will go the chp. Unbelievable.

3. Oh, that jurisdisction stuff pisses me off too.
Once back when I lived in Boston I was assisting a dazed person who fell when exiting the T station and the T police's first question was whether she fell from the sidewalk or fell in the street because the former was T property and the latter would have been city of Cambridge. I lied and told him I thought it was on the sidewalk because I wanted the lard ass to call EMTs.

4. i couldn't believe she asked me and this was after i told her i called 911 and it took
me so long to get through. I hope that lady is okay and i cannot for life of me figure out where she came from, i don't know if there is a medical facility or nursing home around there but just the fact she was in a gown and had bare feet and made it almost to the overpass was amazing.

5. We've had 2 people murdered in Madison
that didn't get police dispatches in response to 911 calls. One was a college student coming home after a test in the middle of the day- someone evidently followed her in- the call she made was silent but no police were dispatched and her bf came home and found her dead.

More recently there was a fight going on in a nearby park- people heard it and called 911 but no police were dispatched until the call came in that A BODY WAS FOUND. :scared:

9. Can't they identify you by your GPS in your cellphone?
Presuming of course that your phone has a GPS thingy in it?

I know Guilford County / Greensboro 911 center can...

Though I tell you 911 can be whacked out, because although Guilford County and the City of Greensboro are happy enough to get together to run a joint 911 center, High Point opted out. Makes requesting for services more "funner"...

Mark.
