While I'm not one of those who would brand this as immoral, many commentators on the Huffington Post seem to think it's one of the most normal and commonplace things in the world to do. Well, *I* never. (Although I hear it's rarer among dudes) The girls I've dated? Too shy, body conscious and/or worried about something like that falling into the wrong hands--as was the case with Ms. Bailon.

The men who are most terrified are the ones who objectify women the most.

Look at someone like John Ashcroft -- he didn't see the Spirit of Justice he saw a nude woman-object and he covered her up.

It's the same concept with the burqa.

Objectification is one of the ways frightened men deal with female sensuality.

In a society where fearful men hold most of the power a naked guy doesn't have to worry so much about that kind of objectification, that kind of put down.

I have an unusually long waist (in other words, being quite tall but not because of having long legs). For some reason, that turned out to be a "figure study" that a lot of the students at PCA (Philadelphia College of the Arts) were interested in painting at the time.

(Though I can pretty much guarantee that not one of them would want to record for posterity my nekkid self these days.)

I really have no issue with being seen but i do think that many people would feel hurt and betrayed to have someone share their personal images without their consent. Frankly, it is simply a hurtful and insensitive thing to do. Most of us know that sharing things like that opens up that possibility and we accept that risk but young people simply do not always think of consequences, nor are they always emotionally prepared to deal with them.

Yes, I did. In graduate school. And not just a "nude photo," but...

I was taking a photography course there, and one of the assignments was to take three self-portraits. The professor would pick one of the three to put on display. (I should note here that the professor was the only one who was going to see these submissions -- there wasn't going to be an open class critique or anything.) Well, I took one that I really liked, and wanted to make sure that this was the one that got picked. And what better way to do that than to make sure that neither of the other two could get picked? One of the alternates was an utterly-boring "shadow on a wall" image that no one would find worth displaying. As for the other...well, I stood in front of a mirror and took a picture of myself. A close-up, shall we say, of the area from just below my waist to just above my knees. Yes, we are talking "crotch-shot" here.

Well, the strategy worked, as the photo I wanted to get chosen was the one that got chosen. And, since this was in the days of film, there's practically no chance that there's a digital file of my full-frontal out there, ready to surface on the Internet. One thing, though...many years later, I ran across a fellow alum who had taken classes from the same professor after I had graduated. He told me one thing I hadn't been aware of: that said professor was gay. Now I find myself hoping that he didn't see my submission as a shameless attempt to suggest a "deal" for a better grade!

Oh, and if I have any real regret about that photo, it's that I didn't think to title it Exposure. :rofl:

Not quite an extroverted nudist, but if other people are not wearing a swimsuits, why should I? And I don't care if anyone takes pictures.

There's a picture of me when I was young and hot I wish I could find. We were at Mono Lake in California doing science when we started daring one another to take a swim. The water in the lake is extremely salty and sort of gross, and the flies can be a huge nuisance, which made it a pretty good dare. I jumped in the water wearing only my hat. Somebody snapped a full frontal of me when I got out, and for a time a copy was on a university bulletin board.

Ah well, there are more.

On the other hand, few things are so low as stealing private nude photos off of someone's laptop. It's sort of like taking photos and videos of people when they are stumbling around drunk. Sincere, honest, and informed consent is everything. People like that "Girls Gone Wild" guy should be taken off the streets. A lot of boorish frat boys should be kicked out of school.

Celebrity stunts are something else. I never wanted to see Paris Hilton...
