4. Is that nail polish or claw guards?
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 03:43 PM by Lars39
:) Does the cat mind wearing the guards? Do you have to clip the claws first? Does PetSmart carry them? Those might be the solution I'm looking for!!!

PS. Purty kitties!!!!

6. They are called SoftPaws...
http://www.softpaws.com

Our vet carries them. Our cats don't mind them at all, once they are on. Millie is pretty good about the installation, but Holly hates it. It's usually a two-person job (one holding the cats, the other one clipping the nails and gluing the caps on), but I have done it solo lately, as Mrs. Amok isn't here.

We use positive reinforcement; once they sit through the installation, they get a special food treat.

The SoftPaws caps last a few months, and fall off when the cats shed their nails. It depends how often your cats nails shed. Millie has had one 'thumb' cap on for over a year--it's actually worn down to a flat surface. Millie looks stunning in the hot pink ones, because they compliment the pink in her nose and ears, but the real reason we went with a colour (instead of clear), is because we can tell at a glance when they have fallen off. Yeah... that's why we did it...

The best part is that they keep the nails, so they still feel satisfied when they are scratching something, but the caps are so blunt that they don't snag most fabrics and upholstery.

They can still ruin a screen door, though!

7. Thank you for the information!!!
It sounds like I still might need a blood transfusion, but maybe just less often. At least my rug might stand a chance. :)

18. Merlin will eat anything you can spare. He is a wonderful cat.
He and Jessie are the best of friends after a little bit of a rough start. He takes her down (literally) when she starts playing too rough. He wraps both paws around her neck and throws her to the side. Exit Jessie...slinking with ears down.

:hi:

11. Look how cute they are. The black one looks like our very first
Merlin.

Long story, my father in law was always getting black cats and naming them Merlin. So we have carried on the tradition.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful babies!!

Laura

Thanks Mrs Grumpy. Now that I know how to post pictures - there will be no stopping me.
