I just watched one of my kitties charge a squirrel.
Our kitties have been content to watch the squirrels invade our back lawn. One our our cats Cookie, gets pretty excited, and semi-stalks them but until now kept her distance. Our big dufus male cat Dingo seems scared of the squirrels. I was watching one of the local nut-nabbers flick around the back yard, then out of the corner of my eye Cookie charged the squirrel. This time the squirrel shot up the tree, but these guy (squirrels) seem like they are pretty aggressive. Should I anticipate a emergency trip to the veterinarian's office? If so could my cats die of embarrassment from a squirrel mauling?

1. Cat vs squirrel goes to cat.
Forget the vet time to warm up the grill. Looks like Cookie is going to bring you a "present" soon.

4. Don't worry about it.
I've watched the feral cats on campus stalk squirrels a time or two. Squirrels always run. You only need to worry if the cat actually catches one -- and even then, the cat's going to win.

6. I currently have a "pet" squirrel (don't ask)
It has NO fear of the cats whatsoever and chases them out of the living room - I would say a bite would be no problem for a cat to handle and they may eventually learn how to take a squirrel but we just howl when the squirrel chases our cats out of the room. And yes they are totally embarrassed.

7. I have a cat who's been able to catch anything she wanted....
Ezcept a squirrel. Y'know how they somehow get around those birdfeeder "squirrel guards"? That's because they're smarter than cats.
