They found our car!
I'm amazed. I really didn't think it would happen. Our car (actually minivan) was stolen on Tuesday night. My husband had left some music equipment in the back, too (covered up) because he was too tired to lug it up the stairs Tuesday night. Not only was our car found today, but all our stuff was still in it!

There's just some damage to the door and steering wheel from the break-in and getting the club off. We're going to get a kill switch now.

I'm just blown away. We have such very strange luck!

:D

5. Get Lojac

I have it in my car and if it ever gets stolen all I have to do is call the local State PD and they'll activate the transponder. They usually recover the car within 1 day, sometimes 1 hour.

13. it's a little piece of electronic equipment...
which, when activated emitts a pulse at a specific, preset frequency, allowing it's location to be triangulated. It is like GPS on the trucks we have here at SBC. Basically, it's big brother actually working for you.

Check out this link, specifically the "KP2" keypad...

http://www.microalarm.com/alarmmenu.html

on edit: click on the 'immobilizer' tab, then scroll down to "KP2".

That's what I have now. The vehicle will not start without you entering a 4-digit code into the keypad (no alarm fob or arming keyto lose!). That means that even if you lose or have your ignotion keys stolen, nobody can steal the car without towing it.

And it has a flashing red light in one of the buttons so theives know it's there.

$130 installed.

8. great!
Glad to hear they found your van and its basically ok!! :D

My 1968 VW was stolen in San Francisco in 1978 and it was found too -at the Jack Tarr Hotel on Van Ness Ave. I got it back and it was unharmed.

Unfortunately for the person that stole it, the VW was on its reserve tank (remember those by chance?). :D

14. I'm *VERY* glad it worked out so well for you!
You were definitely lucky that you had so little damage done!

Along with the cut-out switch you might like to look into the AutoLock Pro http://www.autolock.com/Unbreakable_Auto_BL.htm

and their steering-column lock
http://www.autolock.com/Unbreakable_Auto_CL.htm

I bought both of them, and use them religiously. The steering-column lock can't be removed no matter how many times they cut the steering wheel. And supposedly the one that clamps to the clutch/brake pedal can't be drilled, picked, or freoned. Plus the bright red-on-yellow steering-wheel cover all by itself would scream 'go away!' if I were a thief, I think.

15. a very good turnout. I expected the worst for you to be honest
when I read your initial post on this issue a few days ago! I have been around many who have had their cars stolen (particularly in the fenway park area of Boston for some reason)and the outcome is usually grim! Glad to hear you guys were lucky! :toast:

20. That's the best news!
Does this mean I can still go baby shopping on Monday? (I found the cutest little mini-diaper bag!)

I worked a little overtime last week and it didn't hurt a bit. I'll send you the proceeds for your "fix the door and steering wheel" fund.

It's amazing that all Cliff's stuff was still inside. Guess it was just taken for a joy ride - or maybe my first theory was really true.

:loveya:

Ma

P.S. Your lawn-gnome-in-law has an "in" for vehicles so let us know when you're in the market for a new work horse. Vehicles are much cheaper in Florida than New York City and two one-way tickets are cheaper than two round-trips. ;-) (We're getting an orphaned Explorer in two weeks. Either the Jeep or Rat Truck will go on the block after that - maybe. We really should look into fleet insurance.)

Was sending you guys positive vibes that it would be found - and that's great that your husband's stuff was still in it!

Are there olives in the back seat, like there were in my stolen car?
