Pop star Jackson, in ski mask, throws scare into Wal-Mart

By Kirk Mitchell
Denver Post Staff Writer

Singer Michael Jackson, shown wearing a
black surgical mask while attending a play
in 1996, is vacationing in the Aspen area.

Glenwood Springs Wal-Mart employees were terrified when a man who later turned out to be pop music star Michael Jackson walked into their store wearing a ski mask over his face, authorities say.

"They were concerned what was going on," said Lt. Bill Kimminau, Glenwood Springs police spokesman. "They had no idea who he was."

Just two years ago on Father's Day, a man entered the store and fatally shot fellow worker Tom Lubchenco, 56, during an attempted robbery.

"It put them on edge considerably when a man walked in wearing a ski mask," Kimminau said of the latest incident.

MJ is the least of their worries.

When you shop at Wal-Mart, you have to also factor your tax increase for the public assistance of the $6.00 an hour employee.
