2. According to someone in the GLBT forum, 3million votes are still being counted.
So, there's some hope.

4. Good.. I'm glad there's some hope
I'm really surprised how California has changed. It doesn't sound like the same place I lived when I was a teenager... many years ago.

18. I think there was a concerted effort from the religious to turn out
while enough of the open-minded crowd stayed home because the election had been decided already for Obama and they might have figured their vote wasn't needed for Prop 8.

Very upsetting, but sadly I was not surprised.

9. Thank you for the link
I had no idea Arizona did something similar. What is it, exactly, people fear? Sometimes, it seems, we take one step forward then two steps back. Very sad.

12. So Americans got out to vote decisively for Obama/Biden...
...and for any anti-gay initiatives they could get their hands on. DU, I think we have some conflict to work through. x(

17. A lot of people had to get past their racism to vote for Obama.
But the vile stink of the Bush Administration overwhelmed their bigotry.

I'm optimistic that this is the last surge of the anti-marriage bigots. They had to dredge the bottoms of their stagnant ponds for this one. From now on the organizations that pushed proposition 8 will be tainted. It's some very bad fish they served up. I doubt the Good Lord is pleased.

19. Question 1 in CT failed...
that was less clearly an anti-gay initiative (it's a required question that comes to vote every 20 years to hold a constitutional convention.) but once the CT Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, money started pouring in from anti-gay groups to get it passed in the hopes that the convention would yield an amendment to define marriage as hetero-only and ban civil unions.

On a related note, I want to personally extend an invitation: Come to Connecticut!
