Poll question: How many times will Oscar winners bash the Chimp?
A Republican friend pointed-out that many of the nominees for the top actor/actress awards are outspoken liberals. So.. how many times will we hear the winner of an Oscar bash the Chimp this year in his/her award speech?

(Personal note: My Mom's a swing voter, she's leaning against Bush, and she LOVES LOVES LOVES Sean Penn. Hmm..)

1. None
They haven't the guts. I'm sure they would LOVE to do it but after the Michael Moore thing from last year, they'll shy away from it. It could mean bad publicity for them.

We shall see but I think none is a safe bet.

Probably no overt rants...

4. Chris Martin of Coldplay gave props to Kerry at the Grammy's
So maybe at least once? Funny people might take little sideswipes, too...

5. If Jessica Lange or Michael Moore
were presenters/won an award, I think they would definitely bring it up.

6. Something tells me..
that if it were to happen this year, the attacker would not be booed like Moore was last year. The tide has definitely changed.

8. Good point
I really would love to see that. But you know, the press would still have a field day with it. I'm sure the national news would cover it as if the nation opposed the idea and would mainly show interviews from people who thought the speech was disrespectful to dubya.

Also, I heard a rumor it was mostly stagehands up front who booed at Moore. The vast majority of the audience (mostly liberals from hollywood) applauded him.

9. Well, if you listen to the recordings of Moore,
there is a lot of applause in the background, and the boos are rather supicious in the high volume level of which they are recorded. I'd never thought of it, but yeah, that would be totally consistent if the boos were coming from stagehands and others very close to the mikes.

odd, considering that the stagehands are union people, but that's the downfall of the union idiots - they think it's more important to have a president who is "moral" and "family values" and "american" than someone who actually cares about them, because the dems have ttoally failed to assure them that the only ones who care about them and theor families and their interests and the safety of America are the dems.

24. For a liberal president, yes.

Clinton's done plenty to show he's not as liberal as we all like to think.

DOMA
NAFTA
DMCA
1994 sacking of Jocelyn Elders
1995 welfare 'reform'
No "corporate welfare" reform
1996 telecom act
Monica (though infidelity has been pushed by repukes as being a solely 'liberal trademark' and some people are dumb enough to buy it...)
others...

Clinton was a bipartisan centrist. Not a liberal. While he did some good (balancing the budget), he's nowhere close to being a godsend to the universe... :-(

We need liberals. Now. No more centrists or other corporate lickers. They've done enough damage already.

13. Booing Moore
On the Bowling for Columbine DVD, Moore says he heard more applause than boos.

7. None of these chicken crap imbeciles will have the courage
except to make "covert" and "subtle" critiques, at best.

But I doubt anyone will have the courage to actually speak the truth like Michael Moore did.

well, try anyway, they tried turning the band volume up on Micheal Moore, but if theres ever something that wouldnt work its trying to outdo mike on volume, we need more people like him.

15. agreed
I agree, we do need more people with guts.

Well, I'm new to this site (I mean, I've been reading it for awhile, but just now registered)....over time I've been leaning more and more left, and the only reason I didn't register here months ago is because I was more right-wing, and I knew that people who leaned to the right aren't supposed to create accounts here, and that's cool.

It's not censorship, because you own the site.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, hope to have a good time here :)

16. Zero....
...because if any try to besmirch the Chimp they'll be edited and censored. Janet's boob made that a certainty.
Isn't it on time delay anyway?

25. Charlize Theron is set to win
best actress for Monster. She came out against the Death Penalty during one interview. In Monster she plays a woman who loves another woman. As a gay person, I am hoping for some kind of symbolic gesture of solidarity from Hollywood.
