Eating raw coffee
At first, I was against the idea. But it seemed logical enough. Just take some ground up coffee beans and eat them like you would sugar by itself.

It's actually rather good and takes less time than having to put it in the coffee machine.

Sometimes my roommates stare at me while i'm eating my coffee. i see them. i don't care.

2. Get espresso beans, eat them whole -- they're crunchy
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 03:03 AM by htuttle
They also sell chocolate covered espresso beans, of course. I wouldn't advise getting tangled up with those -- it's like crack...you can't stop eating them, and pretty soon you are talking way, way too fast...

5. Yes
My friend started taking caffiene pills a few years back. His decline was long and slow but noticeable.

Throw chocolate into the mix AND coffee. Dear god! :scared:

9. In Saudi they do not roast the beans, but use it in a warm drink
It is pretty good and very sweet. We used to roast the beans when we bought them green and serve it to the people but they did not like it as it was bitter to them. They also put in some great spices.

12. Good! --- More coffee chatter!
I recall the last such thread here kept going on and on and on. One guy actually complained about the length! I'll come back here later and check. I have 5 different beans including espresso on hand. I'll just nip over to the kitchen and try this out, starting with Blue Mountain.

14. Consider giving your pancreas a break.
Espresso beans with or without chocolate coating I love.
I have finally broken my habit of starting each day with a cup or two of camp coffee and now begin most, but not all, days with out coffee of any sort. On those mornings when I succumb to the coffee craving I, after having read that coffee is one of the most pesticide residue laden products one can ingest, I make sure it is organic.
Why all this concern you might ask?
Well after many decades of possibly abusing my pancreas with coffee (and other caffeinated drinks), I am now diagnosed in the early stages of Diabetes Type II.

http://www.healthyeatingclub.com/info/articles/diets-foods/caffeine.htm
“In 2002, two studies reported that caffeine affects insulin action (Kiejzers et al., Diabetes Care 2002; Thong et al Diabetes 2002). The findings are not completely new, but the degree to which the action of insulin was reduced was surprising. Impaired insulin action is the key step in the development of adult-onset diabetes. Impaired insulin means the pancreas is forced to secrete more insulin to have the same effect till at some point the pancreas starts to fail, leading to the death of insulin producing cells.”
