Admit it, Tom Jones is not that bad
or at least he wasn't, back in the day. Anyone else take guilty pleasure in enjoying TJ's singing? How about Enge's?

5. Liked his version of "Kiss"
the Prince song done with Art of Noise.

And most of his other old hits are enjoyable when they pop up someplace. Don't think I'd go out and buy the CD though.

13. Very bad Tom Jones joke....
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 12:08 AM by BlueEyedSon
A man went to the doctor with a strange complaint.

"Well it's like this Doc, when I drive to work in the morning through the country lanes I start to sing 'The green green grass of home'. If I see a cat then it's 'What's new, pussy cat?'. It's so embarassing, even when I'm asleep and dreaming, I still keep singing. Last night, it was 'Delilah', and my wife was not amused!"

"Yes, it would apear that you have the early symptoms of Tom Jones syndrome".

"Well I've never heard of that, is it common?" asked the man.

"It's not unusual", replied the doctor.

14. Anyone seen the movie "Agnes Browne"
with Anjelica Huston? It's a great movie set in Dublin, Ireland and Tom Jones is part of the story. Check it out. I'll think you'll enjoy it.

17. I saw his act in Spain in the mid 60's
before anybody really knew who he was. I thought then that he would be going places. He was that good. Still is.

18. Tom is wonderful!
When I was much younger, I'd scoff at his tunes, because they were on some crappy "greatest hits of___" album, and seemed kind of sappy.

Then about 10 years ago or so, I saw him perform on Letterman...I was floored! He's such a dynamic performer. All the technical elements were there, but his electric presence transformed a couple of songs into an event.

I don't know that I'd want one of his cds; but I would love to see his show.

20. Yrs ago while working in a hotel I served TJ a poolside drink
and didn't even recognize him. He looked like any other middle aged spare tire balding male. Just looked to see if he tipped (he did). Just another guy....great voice.

27. I remember Channel 9 from Windsor
It never occurred to me until I moved away how odd it was to have grown up watching TV from another country. It certainly wasn't radically different, mainly less slick. There was a Jeopardy type show where kids called in from places near the arctic circle to answer questions. They always showed a map with the place marked (those were the special effects). It seemed pretty exotic to me.

23. Tom Rocks
My wife and I saw him in Vegas 2 years ago and I have to admit – he totally kicked ass. For a guy his age he did not even need a microphone, his voice was that strong.

I went for the kitsch factor and walked away a big fan. And face it, those are the best concerts - where you are totally blown away because you did not expect it.
