Tonight is a celebration of Joseph and Mary beginning their pilgrimage to birth baby Jesus
As the Bible tells us Mary and Joseph, or "Joe the nailer" as he was known in the day, had little. They couldn't even afford to buy the business that Joseph worked at. Mary was a stay at immaculate conceptor. They traveled only with pumpkins to eat.

Pumpkin pie
Fried Pumpkin
boiled pumpkin
Pumpkin creole
etc.

But when they arrived at Nazareth (1970's hit "Hair of the dog" ) they parlayed their pumpkin stock into sweets.

And that is the traditional accept story of the great day Halloween.

Amen.
